Just two weeks before his death, William Shakespeare wrote his Last Will and Testament that would eventually create great controversy. William Shakespeare's cause of death is unknown, but by the fact that he wrote his will so close to his death, he probably knew that his death was near.

In his will, Shakespeare left 100 Euros,

William Shakespeare left a most peculiar will after his death. The Bard gave most of his estate to his daughter Susanna and her husband. But the most intriguing piece of Shakespeare’s will was what he left to his wife, Anne Hathaway. In the will, the only mention of his wife, was to give her “his second best bed.” There are many theories to what this could’ve meant.

Researchers have created many theories for what this line could mean, but no one knows for sure. One view is that the item mentioned was an old bed that had sentimental value, but this theory is very unpopular. Another, more popular, theory is that William Shakespeare had a cottage or another house somewhere that meet a mistress with. Therefore, Shakespeare was giving his wife his second house or his “second-best bed.”
